“Beachside paradise”

Ketaki R (Mumbai)

May 2018

We were here for a quick weekend getaway, and it was lovely in every way - from the large rooms, with the open air showers, to the beachside pool, and the restaurant (the Tom Yum Koong is recommended!) ... it was the most tranquil, relaxing getaway. Would love to go back someday!

“5 Days Wasn't Enoug”

Coley D (Shanghai)

May 2018

We keep upping our game at this resort, 3, 4, now 5 days on this our 3rd visit. I think we need to go full exponential next time, as a linear progression doesn't seem to satisfy as much with each successive visit. Seriously, this resort is everything you want, nothing more, and nothing less. It's that right combination of delivering perfect value for your money. Sure, you could spend more, but what are you really getting for it? We've stayed at hotels far more expensive, exclusive, all the ex's, but we find ourselves keeping coming back to KoYao Island resort.

The Beach and Island: The beach is tidal, so make sure you get your swimming in at high tide, but the low tide provides great options for shell hunting with the little ones. Amazing views, though it's not crystal clear water (but who really cares, if you are looking for that, go to Phi Phi and pay 3x and enjoy far more tourists). It's quite off the beaten paths of Phuket and other islands, so you can very much enjoy the beach to yourself even if the resort is at capacity which it usually is. The island itself is sleepy, welcoming, and home to a small but nice number of expats who all seem to know each other and will give good recommendations on where to eat, what to see. We tended to head down to Pasai beach where there are a few great beach-side restaurants. The food delivered as it always does, great quality at the restaurant in the resort, but really great other options a scooter or tuk tuk ride away.

The Rooms: We have stayed in one of the 2 person occupancy rooms, as well as twice with a larger group in the bungalows. Both are amazing, with great beds and wonderful open air showers and bathrooms. They do turn down service each night to prepare you for the nightly mosquito wars, but the defenses hold every time.

The Service: This is what put me over the edge and wanted to write this review today and risk you readers booking out my favorite hotel in Thailand when I want to go next. We were well attended to the entire trip, this time with two small kids and the staff were wonderfully available to us but not at all overbearing. Phad Thai portions not big enough for your post-run appetite? Ask the staff. Love that curry recipe? Ask the staff. Need honest advice on where to fill your belly outside the hotel? Ask the staff. Though those sound rather standard, I got the feeling that they wouldn't balk at any of my questions, no matter how absurd. I'm looking forward to testing this...

“Luxury Jungle on the Beach”

this Beachfront Hotel has an Amazing setting, very comfortable Villas and a lot of Nature.

Koh Yao Noi is very calm and really not developed Island. Some small and hidden Luxury Resorts and many other more affordable Bungalows on the other beaches.

Koyao Island resort is the last of three small Luxury Resorts on a long stripe of sandy beach.

There are approx. 16 villas, restaurant, infinity pool and a massage hut situated on a nicely trimmed lawn and surrounded by a lot of tropical plants and palm trees. The sound of nature coming from all that green is amazing and different throughout the day. All Villas have great views of the sea and rock formations on the horizon. We stayed in Beach Villa and Beach Villa Suite. The Beach Villa has a small patio on the side, indoor WC, and bathroom and additional outdoor shower which was too dark to be used in the evening. the Beach Villa Suite has a much larger patio in the front, indoor WC, more space inside and a huge covered outdoor bathroom. The accommodation is very basic but really very comfortable. There are indoor and outdoor ceiling vents and AC inside.

The sand Beach is long and nice but disappears completely at high tide and gets very wide at low tide when some rocks show up. The water is not clear, I guess this is a natural thing because it is the same in the whole area.

The Food: Breakfast was great! We never had Lunch. The Dinner though well prepared and super yummy was very expensive even for this kind of place. We stayed in other Resorts of the kind and this was the most expensive Restaurant of them all. But again the food was amazing. It is kind of strange to pay so much for food, especially in Thailand where the food is almost everywhere great, fresh and tasty and so cheap. Es example there a good place on the main road to the right from the main exit of the Resort, 3min. walking. Or other places 15 min walking to the next Beach. (Pisai Beach).

But overall the place is...

We had Villa No 10, which was just wonderful. The view of Phang Nag Bay is unimpeded the lawn leads straight to the beach, long tail boats arrive on the beach and will take you throughout the Andaman Sea location, you get get to Krabi in an hour. The hotel does many free trips so that you can enjoy the area. We used the taxi pickups to get around, generally you can get completely around the island in an hour, don't get a taxi to the Paradise hotel at the tip of the north of the island, as its a jungle route, take a long tail boat. Obviously if you want an adventure take the jungle route, the island is mainly populated with Rubber Tree Plantations. Back to the Koyao Resort hotel, the spa is great value, and friendly the do Yoga as well, which was enjoyable, there are not many places that you can do Yoga with that view from the lawn to Phang Nag Bay. The hotel will arrange scuba diving if required.

The hotel has three water dragons that patrol the garden, they are impressive and don't seem to bother humans. There is a flock of 14 Hornbills that make a fantastic racket at dawn and sunset a truly brilliant jungle sound.

“Beautiful resort”

We really enjoyed our eight night stay at this beautiful resort. The location is stunning, there is just so much life, beauty and serenity to be experienced here. The resort is managed so well, the staff are lovely, efficient and kind. The feeling in the resort is one of calmness and efficiency at the same time. We enjoyed use of the bikes and kayaks, the island is easy to explore. We were able to take the bikes in a taxi to the highest point of the island then cycle all around and take in this beautiful island. The food in the restaurant is varied and tasty, there are also lots of great places to eat nearby. Reception just book you a taxi to take you there and bring you back. Quite often the driver waits for you. There was no stress about anything and it was great value for money. Highly recommend this resort it has undoubtedly the best beach front on the island. Hope to return one day More
