Koyao Island Resort

Koyao Island Resort is located on Koh Yao Noi in the famous archipelago of Phang Nga Bay in southern Thailand. Remote, yet easily accessible, we are surrounded by secluded beaches, rain forests and uninhabited islands in a place where mass tourism and hotels are far away and the original Thai hospitality has free reign.

Our resort is designed in a traditional Thai architectural style which blends graciously into a coconut palm setting. Each villa faces the beach for stunning views over the bay.

“Little piece of paradise”

July 2017

What not to like about this place? Everything is beautifull: the view of the bay with the rocks, the beach, the pool, the grounds with palm trees, the open air restaurant. We liked it that there were a lot of complementary extra’s, like excursions, drinks and snacks at the pool with the manager, a massage, yoga-lesson. Every day there was an activity, We could take a bike, or rent a scooter. Or just walk to one of the restaurants in the neighbourhood for a change of scnenery. We loved our family beach front bungalow, with daybeds and an open air bathroom. Staff is very friendly. We were told july is the “green season”so risk of rain, but we had just 7 days of great weather. This was our first time to Thailand, and I was afraid this place would not be as beautifull as the pictures on the website, but it was just like that. Lovely!

“Absolutely Amazing”

August 2016

The best customer service, the most beautiful scenery & the rooms were very comfortable, clean & just fabulous. The food was delicious, the skooters were fun to ride around the island. The massages were relaxing! A place to go for absolute R & R! We are definitely coming back!!!

“Highly recommend”

July 2017

We really loved this resort. They set up great tours, and have lots of times for guests to meet and get to know each other. The location is great, with an amazing beach and free kayaks you can take to see other lagoons and bays close by. The rooms are clean and you feel very well cared for. You are also very much surrounded by nature, with large monitors, hornbills, huge hermit crabs and other creatures wandering around. Fabulous piece of paradise.

“Old world hospitality, contemporary elegance”

May 2017

My wife, two-year old and I booked a few days at Koh Yao Island Resort in early May. No attention to detail is spared, the hotel is beautiful and the setting is spectacular. It’s a smaller property (very few villas) with a lovely clientele, very different to what you encounter in many parts of Thailand – guests socialise over evening cocktails, and the resort is a destination into itself.

What really sets Koyao Island Resort apart, however, is the management — in particular, Mr. Simon Worrall makes this property a destination for repeat visits. We were not the easiest guests, and he was wonderful with – he personally resolved multiple issues for us related to our toddler, mailed back items we left by accident and ensured our visit was truly a holiday. This is old-world charm and hospitality at its best, and we could not recommend this property more.

“Great luxury family resort with stunning views and”

April 2017

We’d never explored Kho Yai Noi before and were looking for somewhere not too developed and also half way back to Phuket from Krabi. We also wanted somewhere family friendly as we were travelling with our two daughters.

We received a friendly welcome from both the local staff and the newly installed resort manager Simon. The bungalows were stylish with modern fittings and very effective aircon which was a welcome relief to the heat. The bathrooms were more of an open plan area at the back with open air rain shower as well as an enormous bath in a natural wood surround.

The staff aim to ensure each bungalow has it’s own sunbeds on the beach so no worried about not having a perfect spot to enjoy the view. And what a view. One of the best in the world. Seriously. The gulf of Thailand with the multitude of sandstone islands popping out the water. I got up for sunrise because it was simply stunning and I had to see the dawn over the islands.

The communal fresh water pool is relatively small but is another great spot to cool off while taking in the view.

There’s a bar servicing snacks and great cocktails (passion fruit mojito was great) and a nice restaurant serving a high standard of food with a variety of flavours. Sometimes a little confusing as to what is a starter and what a main, but the staff are pleased to help and I heard they were planning to reorganise it.

The staff were all very friendly. I did read some concerns in other reviews about the staff but they were completely unjustified and we had nothing but smiles and helpful service. They even threw a party for Songkran, the new year, for all the staff and their families. And is was lovely to see our daughter enjoying a water fight with the local kids from the village. There were also other families there so plenty of opportunity for our youngest to make new friends.

I’d highly recommend it.
